To augment the efforts of the central govt, state governments are also trying to introduce various state level programmes and schemes aimed at furthering the concept of digital India and financial inclusion.

The main purpose of these schemes and programmes is to help people in availing various digital and banking services, so that the dream of e-governance and inclusive growth is realised.

One such state level scheme is J&K Digipay Sakhi Yojana 2021. This scheme was introduced by the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir in 2021 with the main motive of ensuring financial inclusion within the Union Territory.

Jammu-Kashmir Digi-Pay Sakhi Yojana 2021

This scheme/yojana was launched on 15th September, 2021 by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha at a programme held at JK Enterpreneurship Development Institute, Pampore.

Features of JK Digipay Sakhi Yojana

The main features of JK Digipay Sakhi Yojana are listed below:

  1. It comes under the umbrella of Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission.
  2. The main purpose of JK Digipay Sakhi Yojana is to achieve the goal of financial inclusion in Jammu and Kashmir.
  3. It aims to provide door to door digital banking and financial services in the remote and uncovered areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
  4. The JK Digipay Sakhi Yojana will be operated through Digi-Pay Sakhis (friends). These DigiPay Sakhis will be paid by the government.
  5. The Digi Pay Sakhi Scheme will initially be operated in 2000 remote and uncovered villages and later on replicated in the other villages.
  6. There will be one Sakhi for each gram panchayat.

Objectives Of JK Digi Pay Sakhi Yojana 2021

The main aim and objective of JK Digi Pay Sakhi Yojana is to provide door to door banking and financial services in such parts of Jammu and Kashmir which are uncovered by the Banking network. Other important objectives of JK Digi Pay Yojana are listed below:

  1. JK Digi Pay Yojana aims at providing financial services in 2000 remote villages of J&K in the first instance.
  2. J&K Digi Pay Yojana has an objective to accelarate efforts of JK goverment in empowering women and make them key partners in the developmental journey of JK.
  3. This yojana will create financial access points with significant transparency through the digital delivery of financial services.
  4. This J&K DigiPay Sakhi yojana will help the village people Avail the benefits of other banking and financial services like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana.
  5. J&K Digi Pay Sakhi Yojana will also pave a way for women empowerment. Initially, 80 women from various Self Help Groups have been selected as Digi-Pay Sakhis and they were given the Aadhar Enabled Payment Systems.
  6. J&K Digi Pay Yojana will help women become skillful by imparting them financial service training courses that are run by BSE in Jammu and Kashmir.
  7. This initiative will help the people of remote areas in transforming their lives and getting the banking facilities at their doorstep.
  8. By getting the banking and financial services at their door steps, the people living in remote areas will be able to link with other govt schemes in a better way, especially the Direct Benefit transfer schemes.
  9. It will help in furthering the Prime Minister Modi’s dream of Financial inclusion and digital India.
  10. It will set an example for other states to follow and emulate.

Eligibility For J&K Digi Pay Sakhi Yojana

In order to become a Sakhi under J&K Digi Pay Sakhi Yojana, an applicant should satisfy the following conditions:

  1. The applicant must be a female.
  2. She must be a permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
  3. She must be a member of a Self Help Group.
  4. She must be from a rural area.
  5. She must have a working bank account.

The documents that are required for becoming a Sakhi under JK Digi Pay Sakhi Yojana are as under:

  1. Aadhar Card
  2. Proof of Bank Account.
  3. Passport size photograph.
  4. Proof of residence in JK UT.
